Actually you can buy a 200mm flywheel for a type 4 engine. The big key
though is you have to press a pilot bearing into the flywheel, rather than
the end of the crank for it to work.
My son has a 1.7 L I got from Keith (years ago) in his 65 t-3 Roaster (the
Pile of Bleached Bones), and last year we did an IRS conversion on it to
help with flywheel choices. It's currently running a 210mm clutch in it. It
was a pretty easy swap too. We used a bus bar, and made new ends for it to
fit the type 3 IRS engine hangers, for that "bolt in" experience. ;-) It's
also running very short manifolds with Weber ICT carbs, so it fits under the
load floor.
I hope this helps.
Bob.

Keith,
I'm very interested in your Type 4 conversion.
What size is it 1700, 1800, or 2.0L?
>From what I've been told before, you have to use a 1700 flywheel to fit into
a Type 3 transaxle???

Thanks,
Don

Took the afternoon off to prep the T4 motor for going back in,

been sitting for 6 years. Got it all done, prepped the car in the few things

the T4 conversion needs and an hour and a half later the engine is IN!

Slipped right on the tranny smooth as silk first time... like its been
waiting too long

to be back in service!

Still alot to do and connect up... we'll have to see how far I get tomorrow.

Im getting a motorcycle jack before I do this again though...
