I don't know. It seems take a lot of miles to properly seat the rings. Every engine is different.

The new engine's compression is higher/tighter. That makes for more resistance when manually turning it over.

We all seem to over think every aspect instead of just letting go.

Yes, I was careful when I went thru the bearings to make sure everything was
right, crank and case was from the previous build so they have been used
before,.003 endplay, seems fine when cold anyway.

In my experience tightness in an engine is almost always caused by some
sort of crankshaft issue.  Did your crankshaft spin easily before you
hooked up the rods?
