It could also be a "bad" brake light switch. I've had them leak out of 
the crimped on top before. Just another place to check. But yes, 
check the hoses.

My bet's on the master cylinder. They typically fail by leaking out the "mouth" 
and drip down to the floor. Once on the floor, it finds it's way under the 
tunnel and there's a place at the front of the tunnel that lets it drip out.

Run your finger down along the brake pedal shaft, then forward along the 
pushrod until you find the rubber boot that covers the mouth of the master 
cylinder. Run a finger all along the underside of the boot. If your finger 
comes up wet, you've found your leak.

I rebuild master cylinders for a fraction of the cost of a new one. That's the 
best and most economical way to fix this.
