[T3] calibrate fuel gauge

My 73 has a red area on the empty side, I have a 72 it’s the same gauge the only difference is the red on one is on the gauge black area as are the 3 white marks, the other are on the glass . Yet both gauges have no marks at all that I recall. I
D need to look. All the red represents is the reserve , forget how many gallons it represents.

But has anyone seen a fuel gauge with red segment on a Type 3? Sounds like an aftermarket one with too little resistance maybe?

That's the common fault, but that pushes the needle downward, while 
Daniel's complaint is that his needle runs too high. Like Dave suggested, 
adding a few extra Ohms would push things in the right direction.
