Dont worry about 5MA, anything under 30 or so is fine.
I dont trust Pertronix for other reasons though...

Jim thanks for all the info. I did call a few places who sell the 30019
regulator , the only one who gave me a clear answer was ISP west he took one
off the shelf and verified there were no markings on the diodes. I just felt
the 5 Ma draw might be an indicator of it going bad sooner or later and
since the car does sit the draw does not help things nor do the short trips
I make . I thought since the ign switch was in such sorry shape it might
have been causing a draw in some fashion yet I feel removing the red/white
lead to the fuse box would take that out of the picture and I checked still
has the 5 Ma draw.

I'll use the condenser I have and ordered set of points that might be
better than the Bosch brand yet still did order one set of Bosch . It has
the old black Bosch coil and new Bosch wires yet Bosch a while back decided
to us a carbon core coil lead .

I spoke to Pertronix the other day because I saw a warning not to use
solid core wires because the EMI can kill the igniter circuit board he said
I was lucky it lasted this long since 97 as if I said it quit . He did not
understand there is still resistance 5K in the rotor and 1K each plug wire
end. I just want to have a condenser mounted on the dist just in case it
fails then it's easy to pop in a set of points , I don't want to sit
somewhere in Hollywood dealing with this .

William

Most of the ones on my cars date from the 60s or 70s. They are some sort of
film capacitor, not the alum electrolytic type which typically age and die.
I've
never seen nor heard of one going bad. I never replace them. Yours is
young and should be fine.

OTOH, I don't know if other brands are as reliable, so I will sometimes
replace aftermarket ones, just to be on the safe side.

So, to be clear, the following ignition parts wear out eventually and will
need
to be replaced: ignition points (but not FI trigger points), spark plugs,
spark
plug connectors, spark plug wire. I've never seen a bad Bosch OE coil, but
the Bosch Blue coils are not nearly as durable, unless maybe if you have an
old German one.

The hard part is knowing when the part is worn out and needs to be
replaced. Points need to be replaced if the rubbing block is too worn down
to
be adjustable, or if the contacts are too worn to be filed further. Spark
plugs
are worn out when the center electrode has significantly rounded corners.
SP connectors should be replaced when the resistance goes to infinity. SP
wire should be replaced when the insulation has gone so hard that it cracks
when it's bent.

I'll look at my VRs next time I'm downstairs and think about it. The lack of
a
Bosch logo on the diode bases should not matter. And keep in mind that
your 5 mA of leakage amounts to much less than the self discharge rate of
your battery, so it's insignificant, but still interesting.
