I'd agree that a TRW box isn't likely to make a big spot on the ground; Unless you have been filling it with gear lube (instead of grease). Even then, that would be a pretty massive seal failure.

When you say "right between the wheels", do you mean exactly in the middle of the vehicle left-to-right?

Is everything ok around the master cylinder?

Hi Lori, good to hear you're still around. First, I'd make sure it's not the steering dampener that's leaking. Then, you'd have to look at the steering box to find out where it's leaking from. Was it a new TRW box? Just asking as some of them have been troublesome lately. There's a guy on the Samba who goes into detail on rebuilding OE boxes, and might have have a couple of ideas for you to check on your steering box. It might be worth checking out that thread, and PM ing him about yours.

Hi All,
I'm alive and well, and still living in Frisco with The Baroness ('71 SB carbed automatic).

About 5 years ago, I had to replace the steering box. Yesterday, I noticed a big wet stain on the cardboard I keep under the car on the garage floor.
It was under the front, right between the wheels. I thought it was the brakes leaking, but I looked at them, and they're OK. So I'm thinking it's the steering box leaking.

What can I do? Do I have to replace it again?
