[T3] Flame Thrower Distributor

On an initial install of a Flamethrower distributor in a 67 T3 engine. Installed at TDC, on Cyl 1, wires are correctly installed to a Bosch Distributor.
Is there a way to static time prior to an attempt too start? (As you'd do to a set of points with the test light hooked to term 1 on the coil and grounded to the case, then rotating the distributor until the light goes off, then slight backup to light on). I called Pertronics...they said no, but maybe. What would you all suggest?
