Well, we're hoping to get 60 Type 3s displaying at a VW event in May 2021 to
celebrate the diamond anniversary of the Type 3.
We got over 50 for the 50th anniversary, so the numbers are feasible, but it
depends on cooperation from the organisers, and they were delaying a
decision until after this year's event.  I've heard nothing yet but doubt
this year's event will go ahead due to the virus, so who knows.

The German group www.typ3.de got over 100 at the factory in 2011, and had a
great event in Wolfsburg.

Witness Square was a 71, yes, lots of great memories and great having you
and Anne visit at the camp that year, everything just lined up great!
Hmm,, ever think of a UK version of an invasion? Id have a bit of a
challenge driving to that one but I still have a few years left in me
where I can survive cattle class in a 777.

Hi all, 

Witness was on TV this evening in the UK, so I had to stay up to see it yet
again.

I think we have already established the Witness Squareback was late '72 or
'73, as it had the long armrests on the doors, but it was nostalgic seeing
the Amish communities, and buy an automatic welding helmet from Lancaster
Harbor Freight, which is still working OK.

 

The Invasion was memorable for several things, including a tornado a few
days before we arrived that had left a trail of destruction up the road
towards our accommodation, and 'Annie' recalls her ride with Brian in his
Notch.  We'd had a couple of weeks exploring VT, MA, VT, NH and visited
family friends in CT, as well as a great stay with Keith and riding in his
speedboat towing a water-skier up at Eagle Lake.  

 

All the best to our Type 3 friends.  We're both doing fine - garden and
garage are keeping us busy, and we're staying out of the way while the virus
is active.  We decided a while ago we wouldn't be coming over this year, but
we've had great holidays (vacations!) over in the USA, and everyone's been
so welcoming.  The Invasion formula works well, but we're getting a bit long
in the tooth to go far from home, and there's plenty here to do and see when
normality returns!
