[T3] Cowl seals for wiper shafts

There are 2 versions: some years use a one-piece grommet, 2 per car (one 
per shaft), and some years use rubber washers, 4 per car (2 per shaft.) 
What year do you have and which style was on there?

That's info from West Coast Metric, and I may have some of each. Oddly, my 
Type 3 parts book only shows the grommet style, 2 per car. WCM may have 
confused Beetle and Type 3 uses. I've always just replaced what I found on 
the car and never paid much attention to it otherwise. I guess I never looked 
at the parts book before.

If you have your wiper assy out, be SURE to take the shafts apart, clean 
them, and fill the cavity inside with grease. These can seize up and the only 
chance you'll get to do a really good job of preventative maintence is with 
the whole assy out of the car.
