When I did the autopsy on the failed switch, it looked perfect inside and
its been on there for... 10 years now?
I never switch it with the engine running but yea, I should probably
upgrade.

input. It's odd that there's a lot of variation in this. I don't know if
that's due to variations in the transistors or the transformer.
The 250 V rating will probaby be okay for awhile, especially if that's 250
VAC, unless you switch it with the engine running. I'd change to a full
sized toggle switch.
