[T3] a stumper!

This could be an issue, I wasn’t paying too much attention to that when I layed things out.
Ill check.

The trip home was interesting though, it was fine on the bumpy dirt road out of the camp, and down the secondary road it was better
Than the trip in, but still missing mainly at lower RPM and lean when missing. If I could hold 60 though, it was smooth. It seems to be running a wee bit leaner
On the highway, it runs fine and this build is running cooler than the last one, but I set the AFR up to just kiss 15 on 3/4 throttle at 70 going up the hills and now its making
Making love to 15 at times, but staying smooth. I noticed after getting off the interstate after an hour that it was missing again when I got on the secondary road again but this time I noticed
It would miss and the AFR was still OK, 13's, so IM thinking ignition again... most of the time when it misses though the AFR shows lean to very lean.

Radio interference might be possible as a cause. Perhaps at 3000 RPM the spark is causing a circuit resonance that unlinks at lower or higher RPMs. VW added a bracket to keep the plug wires away from the FI leads for a similar reason:

The bracket needs some plastic HT lead holders, which are still available, too.
I think the Type 4s had the same issue.
So I d make sure the HT leads are away from any FI wiring as much as possible.
Yeah, not too likely, but you ve already eliminated the common causes!
