Looks like I really messed up my comments on this thread.

Yes, there were 2 bars, but the ~1" hole on the right side of the early bar
was to allow access to the head of the M6 bolt that attaches the tab from the
HEAT EXCHANGER to the engine tin. At some point, VW changed things so
that bolt came in from the other side, making the ~1" hole unnecessary. So
early cars have the weld nut on the tin and late cars have it on the tab.

And Max wrote CSP for the supplier of the air ducting but I thought ISP.

Looking at the CSP site, it appears that they are selling the same stuff. They
claim a 57 mm size, but don't specify ID vs OD. The aircraftspruce price for
2-1/4" ID is $7.80/ft vs CSPs price of 59 Euros for a stretched meter.
Aircraftspruce doesn't specify stretched or relaxed, but their price is good
either way. Aircraftspruce sells a lot of good stuff at very reasonable prices.
The aircraftspruce ducting is sold in inch dimensions, but the 2-1/4" ID and
57 mm stuff are probably the exact same stuff.

BTW, as I looked around ISPs web pages, I was struck by how expensive
everything is. I KNOW that my price sense is outdated, but their prices seem
really extreme. Is this just me? Anyone care to comment?
