I always understood the VW Type 3 ( and Type 4 ) Auto Transmission to be 
a Borg Warner 35 Auto Transmission built under Licence ? So Parts should 
be widely available, especially in the US ?
Currently enjoying a Holiday ( Vacation ) at our Timeshare Lodge at 
Coylumbridge ( Aviemore, Cairngorms, Scotland ). Did a Tour of Loch Ness 
today in our 2018 Audi RS6 Avant. Great Fun !

Maybe also try an Audi dealer. I think some of their models used the 
same auto tranny design, and maybe they can get the part. <br>

The past two years my neighbour and I have been working to get this car 
back on the road. He was test driving it yesterday and I watched the 
governor cover roll to the boulevard. Not sure exactly why it failed. 
Possibly he overfilled it?  We found the cover but not the clip.
