Or you can use NBR Nitrile / Nylon. 
It comes in different thickness. Original is 2 layers of diaphragm material. You can remove the peening at the top of the spindle to remove the Diaphragms. Then Drill and Tap to M2.5 and fasten it back together with a Screw. There is an alternative method of replacing the whole spindle with a suitable Allen Screw. 
Don’t forget the Diaphragm must be held at full deflection before tightening the Screws around the outside. There is a VW Tool for this but you can make one yourself.
