In the UK diesel has been a few % more than gasoline for many years. In our crowded towns the levels of particulates from Diesel engines has raised concerns over asthma and other lung problems aggravated by particulates in exhaust fumes. We moved back to gasoline VWs, and now get similar gas mileage to our 1999 Jetta wagon on a journey. We bought a Polo and a Golf SV with DSG and love them, but my oldest son now has the SV as I’ve not driven for 2 years now, and Chris’ old Ford failed the annual test.

Cheers,
Dave. UK VW Type 3&4 Club.
