[T3] Noisy Tranny

 Keith, are you sure it's not the throw out bearing making noise? Just asking as mine does the same thing and has done it for years. I only say that as quality of parts has been getting worse for the last several years. Some throw out bearings are even coated in plastic for some vehicles. Might be worth looking into, versus pulling the tranny and going thru it again.Bob 65 Notch S with factory sunroof.

turning in neutral (correct?)

It would have to be one of those bearings correct?

 

Years ago the original tranny slowly got noisier and noisier and I think it
was a secondary shaft bearing, finally chickened out and replaced it.  How
long can they go on a noisy bearing?

I don't have time to pull the engine this year, probably not next year
either and I have a lot of miles ahead.

 

Not quite as easy pulling the 2056 as it is the stock engine.  And of
course, I need to somehow find somebody local here in NY that knows what
they are doing rebuilding VW transaxles.
