[T3] Type 34 Karmann Ghia Road trip to Las Vegas...

Another perfect day for cruising across the Southwest. Started out at 36F in Gallup, NM and ended up in Weatherford, OK. Maybe hit 82F at one point in Texas, but was otherwise gorgeous.  Didn't even need to roll the windows down, let alone turn on the A/C.  The was our longest day at a little over 600 miles.  Two 500 mile days left.

The Ghia is running great.  Still averaging right around 26mpg at 65-70 mph.  Maybe 2 quarts of oil for the while 3000 miles so far.

Jill and I made it safe & sound to our hotel in Gallup, NM.  Great first day of the drive home.  We even stopped at couple of places for some birding and of course had swing through Winslow, AZ and stand on the corner.

It was an awesome weekend with great friends (old and new), great cars, and great food.  We counted 42 Type 3s.  I think i got pics of all of them and will post more when we are home.

Jill and I had yet another fantastic drive today crossing New Mexico and on into Flagstaff, AZ for the night. Just a short 4 hours tomorrow into Las Vegas. The Ghia just continues to cruise along at 65-70 mph and right around 26mpg. The weather has been absolutely fantastic. Haven't really needed the A/C the last few days.

Jill and I had another great day of cruising the Ghia across Oklahoma, Texas, and into New Mexico.  We arrived Tucumcari, NM in time to even get a little birding in before dark...picking up our lifer Scaled Quail among some other birds.

Great drive in almost perfect weather.  Another beautiful sunset also.  On to Flagstaff, AZ tomorrow before the final short day into Las Vegas on Thursday.  Still getting around 26.5 mpg give or take while cruising at 65-70 mph.  Have added less than a quart of oil after almost 1400 miles.

Jill and I decided to attend the Type 34 World meet-up at the One Crazy Weekend VW Show in Las Vegas next weekend.

We started the 2100+ mile trip out there today and we completed the first leg of our roadtrip to Las Vegas with her 67 Type 34 Karmann Ghia.  Great weather to cruise in...didnt even need the A/C.  The Ghia is running great.  Got 26.5 mpg on the first tank full. Such a fun and easy car to drive.

570 mile day planned tomorrow and the weather looks good with sunshine and highs in the mid-80s.  Should be a good day.

Will try to post daily update.
