It's likely that it will last a few years, otherwise they would have taken it off 
the market. But keep in mind that it's about 5x smaller than the steering 
wheel that you'll be torquing on. You'll be putting  more than 5x more stress 
on it when installed than when you're just playing with it in your hands.

It's a pretty critical safety part. If you go ahead and install it, please check it 
regularly and keep us informed if you notice any degradation. The flaws that 
John pointed out could be early failure points. Like John said, if it starts to 
break down, it will probably fail suddenly and completely.
