So I asked this question online on their website. Within 5 minutes, a Brad Penn senior tech engineer phoned me to explain the aspects of why the API rating isn’t there. He talked to me for 5 minutes, but basically he said for these multi-grade oils - they chose to not be restricted by todays API standards. He said they exceed todays ratings for phosphorous and zinc, and they would have to reduce these amounts to get back down to a API rating. He wasn’t bashing API, but instead emphasized how these Brad Penn oils are designed for the older air cooled / classic cars.
