<div>Looks like she got a SVDA distributor. If it is a solid German one that is great. It will give a drivable curve. There are a lot of questionable ones out there. It is the next best thing to the correct euro distributor. All should be good and another type
3 is saved, preserved, and being driven. </div>

True, the German 009 is a quality built distributor . The Mexican and<br>
Chinese built units are a crap shoot. Some advance more than others. In any<br>
event, even the best 009 lacks the curve of the correctly matched<br>
distributor. And if memory serves me right, the correct distributor also<br>
retards the timing on the number three cylinder to help prevent over heating<br>
of it.<br>

With Solexes and a stock engine, the German 009 is a perky and easily set<br>
choice, particularly with the Pertronix module. An 019 cast iron unit would<br>
be my first choice, but the German 009 is also very reliable, as Mr. Fye has<br>
implied.<br>
Clearly, they are not the best choice for most built-up engines and<br>
obviously not even an option for FI, but they're not the boogeyman they<br>
often are labeled. Their shortcoming is a very limited, (20*), curve. So,<br>
the initial setting needs to be more advanced, (even at sea level), than<br>
other dizzys with greater curves, the 010, 018, 022 and BR4. But, none of<br>
those are optimal for stock, carbed VW engines with stock, or near stock<br>
cams.<br>
