<div dir="ltr"> For me it's just a matter of using common sense when using lubes and sealers of any brand since all make some claim to be the best thing since sliced bread. <div><br></div><div> I just use a tooth pick to apply the permatex anti-sieze to the plugs threads and just enough to coat the threads lightly not so much to fully pack the threads . The main reason I use a chaser after removing the plugs is to make certain any remaining is cleared then crank the engine to blow out what may be loose. The heads I have on my car now as well as the case were from a 72 case I had and the plug threads were not great and I had the machine shop install time serts which was the way they repaired them and with the heads off they peened them on the inside so they would not back out . I still use anti-sieze just in case. Since I don't drive much I don't replace plugs often. </span>Using oil is better than putting them in dry, but the Permatex should work <br>
quite well. One thing to be careful of is that it's easy to get a buildup of <br>
excess antiseize around the entrance to the threaded hole in the head, and <br>
that can sometimes transfer to the working end of the spark plug when <br>
you're putting it in.<br>

Permatex sells a number of different antiseize products, and I think they all <br>
contain some kind of metal. If that metal gets on the plug insulator, it can <br>
short out the spark, so you need to be careful about how much you use and <br>
where you put it.<br>
<br>
My preference for spark plug threads is any kind of moly disulfide paste, <br>
Molycote G or U paste, or an equivalent. It doesn't take much, and you don't <br>
even need to put fresh stuff on each time, it coats the threads in the head so <br>
you don't always need more. And you don't need to clean it out, ever.<br>
