Hi, thanks for the tips. All I know for sure is back quarter is gone. I think I will start there, but also investigate what I might be truly dealing with as you suggest. What do you replace the old sound deadening material with? My rear engine compartment sound deadening material is shot so I have been thinking about this. Are you still 6V?

On Thu, Nov 1, 2018 at 9:02 AM Soren Jacobsen <snj@blef.org> wrote:

> On Nov 1, 2018, at 8:38 AM, Mara Johnson <drmarajjohnson@gmail.com> wrote:
How bad are your pans? If the front section is solid, I'd just buy rears from ISP West: https://www.vwispwest.com/311705058RQ.html?p=YzE9MTg5

Or if the rot is even more concentrated, they sell just the battery tray: https://www.vwispwest.com/311705058B.html?p=YzE9MTg5

If you're not sure how bad your floors are overall, a few hours spent removing sound deadening material and taking a wire wheel to the floors will show you what you're truly dealing with. Some floors that look good enough from underneath end up being full of pinholes :\

If your floors are rotten up front, I'd look for good original metal. You'd probably still end up needing to patch the battery tray, but in my mind that's preferable to dealing with the Klassic Fab reproduction pans.
