<div class="PlainText">I have an older sears with a 12 gallon tank. The copper pipe from the head<br>
to the check valve was leaking and I never noticed this. At some point<br>
someone over tightened the compression fitting at the head and collapsed<br>
the pipe via the brass ferrule. I replaced the check valve it was shot,<br>
tried to clean it yet every few cycles it would leak and trip the circuit<br>
breaker.<br>

I got a new pipe and 1/2" compression fittings. The new pipe I got had the<br>
90 degree bend and I don't have sand or a tubing bender.<br>

I fit the new pipe and had to cut it , it was a bit longer. The trouble is<br>
for whatever reason the pipe is not perfectly round so on each end the<br>
ferrules both have a small gap between the ferrules and pipe it's less than<br>
an 1/8 wide and .010" at the center the ferrules fit well into the fittings<br>
and check valve and all around the copper tube except that one spot so it<br>
leaks a bit only while it's running. I tried pipe tape that helped a bit.<br>
It's not as bad as the old pipe . I know how to use a tubing cutter and I<br>
removed the inside burrs.<br>

What can I use to seal the small gap? I thought I could just flow a bit of<br>
solder in the gap or perhaps silicone like ultra copper . Something that<br>
does not blow out. It works fine and the tank holds pressure now and does<br>
not trip the breaker .<br>
I can let it be yet any leak does cause the compressor to run a bit longer<br>
and as the pressure goes into the tank even a small leak can draw in<br>
moisture or fine dust it creates a small vacuum.<br>
