DOT 5 is Hydrophobic ... meaning it does *NOT* absorb moisture from the<br>
air.  Less moisture = less rust.<br>

People who are diligent enough to flush & refill the hydraulic brake fluid<br>
with DOT 3 may never face moisture-induced rust in their master or wheel<br>
cylinders.<br>

I used DOT 3 in my original. one-owner, stock, 1969 1600cc engine<br>
Squareback  car for 40+ years.  But I decided to flush the system<br>
*thoroughly* and replaced the brake fluid with DOT 5 about 10 years ago.<br>
Just because of the moisture absorption possibility.<br>
