The bushing is about 1/2" long, sitting inside the top of a hole 
that's about 3/4" deep. If the tap trick doesn't work, try a large 
common nail, with a head that will just barely slip thru the bushing 
and then slip sideways and catch on the backside of the bushing. Grab 
the shank of the nail with a vicegrip, and tap or lever the nail back 
out, pulling the bushing with it.
