[T3] "hiccups"

My '73 FI Squareback, for lack of a better description, "hiccups" six or seven times when cold during the first 5-6 miles then the problem seems to diminish.  I have been through the tune-up specifications: set valves, checked distributor points (all three), replaced coil, adjusted throttle valve switch, new ignition wires, new plugs, replaced fuel pump, and cleaned fuel tank.  Any idea what might be causing the problem?
