[T3] Bosch Starter...

Well...what kind of improvement is a More Brittle and easily- broken starter? What would a rock kicked up from the road do to it? This new Bosch starter is smaller...and metallic, not black.
Anyway, the Muir book advises giving the solenoid, not the starter, the little hammer taps. Of course, with the "new" starters, and if hammers won't work...what to do if you're 50 miles from the nearest paved highway or any other civilization? Carry an old starter around?

Really? Are they all permanent magnet motors now, no field windings?
That would be quite a change. Probably saves some space and certainly
saves some starter current and load on the battery.
