[T3] Replacing Starter

There's been some guys on the UK Type 3 forum who have fitted Golf (Jetta)
starters successfully. The mounting holes on the motor need opening out a
bit to suit, but the starter mechanism is OK. Some have used a diesel
starter, which has a larger torque to cope witrh the higher compression
ratio of the diesel.
