It can happen with fuel lines too.  Air molecules are smaller than fuel
molecules. If your FI always takes a while to refill the lines, it might be
the non-return valve in the pump, but it can also be the fuel hoses
themselves.

FYI:

I had lots of "experience" with bleeding a few months back when after
several bleeding attempts (by the book), I could not get all of the air out.
 The culprit was the center tunnel hard line, which was NOT visibly leaking.
 Once changed (a real pain), it solved the problem.  Lesson learned;
sometimes you can have pinhole air leaks in those lines with NO escaping
fluid.  Weird.
