Its California when your that far west everything else is East.
I suppose you could say that about east coast states about West.
I Am from Arizona originally and it always seem odd that we have a
Midwest but no Mideast ;-) 
And why it starts so far east (I know that one of curse but seemed odd
as a kid).

Seriously, though, I've heard Californians call Michigan the "east
coast" -- no joke!
