[T3] Rattling shifter

Ok, it's all back together and a quick thank you to everyone that offered up
help and ideas on replacing the bushing.  It all went pretty well.  For me,
I found it easiest to pull the rod out, put the bushing and snap ring on at
the end of the shift rod where it was a thinner diameter, seat the bushing
in the bracket and then have my friend push the rod back in from the front
while I was in the car making sure it all stayed in place.  The bushing
expanded into the bracket and it was smooth sailing after the rod has been
lightly greased.

I then took it for a drive and it shifts very well, but I am getting a
strange noise that seems to be coming from right under the shifter.  It's
kind of a high-pitched whine (as best I can describe it).  It is present in
all gears, even neutral, and disappears when the car is not moving.  Moving
the shifter around a little sometimes can dampen it.  Is this due to the
stop plate not being adjusted properly?  If it weren't for the noise, I'd
say it's all back together just fine.

I did replace the plastic pieces in the coupler as well as the shift rod
bushing, obviously.  I am wondering if those new parts are making the whole
system much tighter and I'm now getting some transfer of vibration down the
rod.

I'm hesitant to move the shift stop plate because I don't seem to have
problems shifting.

Any ideas?
