[T3] Rattling shifter

What color were your new ones? What you describe sound like the urethane
alternatives that are used when a owner wants to stiffen things up. The
urethane replacement stuff I have found tends to be more noisy.

Ok - problem solved. I put the old coupler pieces back in and the
vibration
down the rod completely stopped. Shifter rattle stopped too! I
inspected
the new pieces and compared them to the OE pieces. OE was definitely
softer
and more capable of absorbing vibration. The new ones were plastic and
no
hint of flexibility or dampening ability. So that's all it was.

Now I have a new shifter bushing and a quiet shift rod. Nice way to
start
the weekend !

Thanks again to everyone for your help and ideas on this process.
