You have to use the correct offset rims. Unfortunately 8 spokes are not  
them, as they were designed to be used on a bug. There are several choices out 
 there with a good offset, but you have to know what you're looking for. 
The only  other option to using 8 spokes is to raise the car up, so you have 
clearance  (like Keith's Notch).  ;^)  Or do the John J method of adding a 
strip  of metal to help push the fender out a little more (away from the 
tire).
