That's plenty close. There's about 1/4" of leeway either direction.

The main thing to check is whether the generator can put out more
than 14 V when you do the "full fielding" test. That's the test where
you ground the DF terminal with the wire disconnected and then speed
up the engine. It tests just the generator. If the generator tests
okay, then the problem must be in the voltage regulator or the
wiring. It's usually in the VR.

There is temp sensitivity built into the VRs, but not that much. I've
seen a LOT of bad aftermarket (black body) VRs in VWs over the years.
