[T3] Newbie with dumb questions.

The last year for carbs in the USA was 67, so if you have a later US model  
T-3, then it was originally an FI car. Personally, I'd probably leave the 
carbs  on it (the 1776), and see what kind of mileage they deliver. On my 65 
Notch, out  on the highway, I get a corrected 27 to 28 mpg @70-75 MPH. If I 
were to  drop my speed down to 60, I'm sure I could nudge that up some more. 
Some  here beat on carbs as "old school technology", but they do work 
pretty damn  good, and don't require a lot of fussing with. Otherwise, it sounds 
like  you've got a good plan, and realistic goals, with enough basic 
knowledge to  get the job done. Your learning curve will most likely be the T-3 
body, as most  everything else is basically the same as a bug (engine cooling 
being the biggest  exception).
