Super glue actually works pretty well for mending tears in  rubber. 
Just get any dirt, grease, or oil out of the crack  first.



Russ recommended Loctite 404 for gluing rubber. He used it Mahle for making 
 "O" rings. I've been using it on my T-34 with good results.
