Depends on where you are and the altitude, in NY, the premium is 93 octane.
With the flat top pistons and aftermarket non-stepped heads I needed at
least 92 all the time, now that I have stepped heads on there I can run 87
most of the time, but Ill put 89 in it if Im running on the highway and its
hot or the car is heavy, with the boat I treat it to 93 but basically run
the lowest octane you can without hearing any knocking or pinging.

Subject: [T3] Octane

*This confirms my "I know I read it somewhere, but I can't remember where"
about fuel for my '69 Variant, MT, FI 1600. Use 91 octane.

Is there any fuel out there that's greater than 91?
Any reason to use a higher octane than 91?
