I really don't know what might work specifically with any particular 
non-stock engine. OTOH, the mech advance curve of the first FI years, 
the 311 L dist, has a really nice advance curve. I could see it being 
really good with almost any engine. One caution: Do NOT connect the 
vacuum advance unless you're using this on a FI car, because the vac 
advance logic is backwards from what most carb vac ports provide.

I do something similar, using muriatic acid, if I'm trying to solder 
to a corroded connector. The acid leaves a clean solderable surface, 
is cheap, and leaves no residue.

BUT, there's really no point at all in doing any of this to all your 
connections unless your goal is to make them all LOOK nice.
