I went to start the Notch to get it out of storage a couple weeks ago, no
ignition... tach wasn't jumping. Found out that the condenser wire pulled
right out of the terminal block on the side of the dist, so did the coil B-
wire... NICE! Explains a few things though... so I pulled it out, pulled
the wire thru the hole and alligator clipped it to the condenser and coil
and drove it home!

Watch out for that cheap aftermarket crap....

Subject: [T3] alligator clips to the rescue!

Gail and I took Elwood out for a cruise the other day. We went to a state
park about 60 miles away and were having a wonderful drive......until.....we
came across a stretch of REALLY rough road. We slowed down alot to get thru
it, and when the road smoothed out again we tried to accelerate and felt
Elwood's motor skipping. It wasn't going to clear itself up, so we pulled
off the road. Process of elimination discovered cylinder #2 wasn't doing
anything. Then (while idling) I wiggled the #2 fuel injector plug-in and
viola; it would fire if I held the wire in a certain position. Upon further
review; one of the 2 injector wires broke right where it entered the brass
crimp!

Luckily, I keep a few 2 foot pieces of wire with mini alligator clips on
each end (with plastic insulating boots) in my traveling tool box. Turns out
these mini alligator clips are just the right size for fitting side by side
right into the fuel injector, in place of the original plug-in! I clipped
the other end of each wire to the original harness, electrical taped
everything to hold it all in place while driving, and away we went...all the
way home!

So the moral to the story is to either buy or make your own set of wires
with alligator clips to keep in your traveling tool kit!
