I like to cut some thin aluminum sheet into shapes that contour to 
the lower inlet pipes, and then clamp them in place with hose clamps.
The aluminum will corrode faster than the steel, sacrificing itself 
and saving the steel. 

I've found that those lower inlet pipes are often the first parts to 
rust thru, so prolonging them has a major impact on muffler lifetime.
