That can often be a bad sign. Restorations are often a cosmetic
project, because that's what the owner is aware of, so the little
details that make the car good or bad get ignored because they are
deemed irrelevant. They only come back to haunt you later on.
Take a look at NotchBob's epic restoration of his Type 34, Wolfie.
The posts at the Samba are going on 61 pages of careful, thorough,
painstaking effort. No one but Jay Leno could afford to pay someone
else to do this kind of work.
