This makes me think it's not the fan housing screws. More likely one 
corner of one of the muffler heat shields has come loose and is 
resonant only at idle.

It could also be some other bit of sheet metal which has come partly 
loose. Check the 2 steel fresh air tubes that run forward thru the 
engine on both sides.

Sure you can't listen to the fan itself, but you can listen to the 
fan housing.
