Well I wouldn't burn out the foam, you'll set the headliner on fire or at
least make the car smell bad for a very long time.

I cut out the offending area in my Squareback and welded in new metal with
the mig, once the metal is cut away you can dig the foam out.  I believe
there are pictures out there of just how big the foam block is on the
Fasty's and just where to cut.

You might also find a good metal section to cut from a northern car, they
didn't rust out around the foam like the southern cars did.
