Well, that will give you some heat, but the rear heaterboxes really do help.
The problem will be that the aluminum hoses usually tear off from vibration
in a thousand miles or so, and when that happens you unload the fan housing
from its air restriction and you lose cooling air to the engine by dumping
that much air out of the fan housing.

Not good.

I came up with a work around to restoring interior heat as VW intended it to
perform. This is using an after market exhaust. It takes about three hours
to complete the project. I do intend to install a stock exhaust system once
the car has been painted. In the meantime, I wanted proper heat. It gets
cold in the desert.
