Makes me wonder if the bolts/screws that hold the fan housing to the 
case have come loose. Grab the side ports on the fan housing and 
shake them; can you move the housing independently of the case? If 
so, you need to stop and fix that right away. It's a pretty big job 
if you're not familiar with how to do it.

Hint, if you're clever, you can do this with the muffler in place.
