*Bob has been advising me, so I think I've got a pretty good "handle" on
building a Tow Bar. His experience has been invaluable. I don't have the
tools, welding skills, supplies, etc. but I know people who do and can
build with guidance. *
Yup, I've been busy the last couple of days trying to help Gary out with my
version of a Type 3 tow bar. I think I've finally got him to figure out
how it works. ;-) All he really needs is a good fabricator, some cash (for
tubing, "U" bolts, and anything else he needs), and a super beetle tow bar to
modify. I've used mine, and I know it works.
I've also got a tow dolly here, and that thing can be a royal PIA at times.
I've used it from Idaho to Michigan, and from Iowa to Michigan hauling
T-3s, and I'll tell you, flat towing is a lot easier (doesn't add the extra
foot + on each side). However, when you have a rusted out front beam (like my
71 Notch had) using a tow dolly was worth having. : )
