That's good, you should be all set with the soldering then. The rubber
insulation sometimes causes corrosion on the copper strands and they need a
good cleaning and fluxing to get them to flow nicely.

I'm a bit of an electronics hobbyist, and used to repair brass band
instruments. I feel pretty good about my soldering skills. :) I have
already added extensions in several sections of wire harness. You ain't
kidding about the harshness of the engine compartment.

I still have the inserts for the FI systems, if your harness ends are too
Short you need to solder on extensions, then solder the inserts on those.

Keep in mind, if your soldering skills aren't good you may never get to
where you want to be, MOST people cant solder (even some that need to!)and
You need to have the right iron (not the solder guns)and the proper solder
63/37 Tin lead .040 or close and extra liquid flux. The engine stuff really
see's a harsh environment.

I have been trying to get my Squareback running again, and have been
thwarted by my wiring harness. I've taken apart and re-crimped, soldered,
and shrink-wrapped as many connectors as I could. The metal connectors on
the 3-pin distributor connector have failed on me. I don't think I can
successfully solder a wire to the nubs that are left. I remember reading at
some point that Keith had found replacements for those. Is that true? Can
I buy some?
