Normal valve/head wear will make the valves tighten up, as mine did. 
If things are loosening, that's cam/lifter wear, which is abnormal.

Or maybe this is just the tolerance on your settings before the trip, 
possibly caused by doing the "cold" adjustment at somewhat different 
temps.

Let's hope for the latter.
