At night you should see them shine on anything behind the car - at least
enough to check the brake light switch is working anyway.  Or use a bit of
paper stuck with blu-tak (sticky mastic) on the lens and look in your
outside mirrors.

Thanks Bob for contacts...Samba/1500 club:) With the Brakes,yes the key was
on;). When alone it sucks. I used a test light on the tail light
connectors,but the 2x4 kept slipping and was not sure if pedal was depressed
all the way during check. I did not want to wedge that thing in so tight and
rip the seat! As soon as I get a chance, I will have my son help me,got
vacation as of Saturday for 3 weeks. Thanks again,Steve
