[T3] Brad Penn Question

Opinions vary with respect to what oil to use. And the discussions tend to get heated, like religion and politics. ;-)

For many years I used Shell Rotella in both of my engines (a stock 1600 and a 1776) but after I found pitted lifters in my 1776 a couple of years ago, I switched to Brad Penn.

I don't know if my lifter problem was caused by (or even related to) the Rotella. But I haven't had a lifter problem in that engine in the last 40k miles with the Brad Penn.

So who knows? My stocker has had no issues on Rotella or Brad Penn. Both engines are very mild and have seen very similar usage (though the 1776 pushes the heavier type-3 around as opposed to the 1600 moving a 63 baja bug).

I would say the Brad Penn is safe.
